SuPortNet II: Sustainable Networks of Ports

SuPortNet II is an European Union project (Interreg IIB) with Oestfold county municipality as the lead Partner. The aim and mission of this jollow-up project is to improve and increase sustainable boat tourism. Especially small, traditional port areas will be given support in order to increase employment rates and local income. In order to guarantee for a successful, sustainable development, ports and marinas need to be part of urban and regional planning, while nature protection needs to be part of planning itself. At the same time, partnerships between private and public stakeholders will be encouraged.

The Internet site, established by the project will provide information that will make ist easier for tourist to travel in the archipelago and will also give partners the opportunity to market their harbours, attractions, facilities and amenities.

Another important goal with the project is to establish guidelines on how to store and dispose garbage and septic disposal from boats, at the same time guide people on how to reduce the pollution and damage within the harbours.
